Role overview
The Data Scientist will develop machine learning, data mining, statistical and graph-based algorithms to analyze and make sense of datasets related primarily to signals data. This role will mix research and development to play a key role in LufCo's never-ending pursuit of the cutting edge.
This role is best suited for someone with a PhD in quantitative discipline who enjoys researching and building. The ideal candidate can seamlessly and autonomously navigate the shift between independent and collaborative tasking.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement statistical, machine learning, and heuristic techniques to create descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics.
- Prototype algorithms to target the most suitable model for the specific dataset/metrics.
- Build models or develop experiments to generate data when training models.
- Generate reports and/or visualizations that summarize datasets and provide data-driven insights to customers.
- Partner with subject matter experts to understand the source and output goals of datasets.
- Translate customer goals into quantitative formulations.
- Graduate degree in a quantitative discipline (statistics, mathematics, operations research, computer science, etc.). Masters is acceptable, but PhD is preferred.

- 5+ years or more experience working in a titled, or related, Data Scientist role.
- Experience programming with data analysis software such as R, Python, SAS, or MATLAB.
- Hands-on experience training models for machine learning and writing artificial intelligence focused algorithms.
- Excellent task management.
- Strong written communication.
- Ability to travel as required.
- Standard office environment with occasional requirements to visit client sites, labs, or field environments.
