Verus Research is searching for a Space & Autonomy Computer Vision Engineer Summer Intern to support research and development efforts in computer vision for autonomous space navigation.

The Space & Autonomy Computer Vision Engineer Summer Intern will design, implement, and evaluate components of a vision-based relative navigation pipeline, including feature detection, pose estimation, and state estimation. Responsibilities include improving robustness, accuracy, and computational efficiency using representative datasets and simulated mission scenarios and delivering validated prototype components suitable for integration into spacecraft autonomy systems.

**This posting is for work in Albuquerque, NM on site, and is intended to be a summer 2026 appointment only.

Verus Research is prepared to pay for round-trip travel to and from Albuquerque, as well as lodging expenses during your stay in Albuquerque for the summer. Transportation is needed through the duration of the internship but not provided by Verus Research.**

The ideal candidate for the Space & Autonomy Computer Vision Engineer Summer Intern role will possess strong design, analytical, hands-on, and problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex ideas and provide innovative solutions.

  • Success in this demanding role will stem from:
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Experience in computer vision, robotics, autonomy, or perception systems preferred
  • Proficiency in Python required
  • Familiarity with computer vision and/or machine learning libraries preferred
  • Experience evaluating algorithm performance using quantitative metrics preferred

Work Location:

In-person, Albuquerque, NM

Schedule:

8-hour shift, Monday thru Friday

Experience Level:

Must be actively pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Engineering (AE, ECE, CS, or ME)
