Summary

We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist to drive the computer vision capabilities of our AI-powered manufacturing intelligence platform. This role combines advanced vision modeling, multimodal reasoning, and data engineering to assess manufacturability and printability from images, schematics, and part metadata. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in applied computer vision, strong hands-on experience with data engineering pipelines that support ML workflows, and a background building production AI systems using Azure Machine Learning, Databricks, and agentic AI frameworks such as LangChain and LangGraph. This role is highly cross-functional and foundational to the platform’s intelligence layer.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Computer Vision & Deep Learning: Strong experience building, training, and evaluating CNNs, transformers, or multimodal models for image classification, feature extraction, defect detection, or segmentation using PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • Industrial or Applied Vision Experience: Background applying computer vision to real-world inspection, materials identification, part recognition, or manufacturing-related imagery — even if not directly in additive manufacturing.
  • Data Engineering for AI: Demonstrated ability to build data ingestion and transformation pipelines that support ML workflows, including:
  • Large-scale image ingestion
  • Feature extraction and embedding generation
  • Schema and metadata alignment
  • Delta Lake pipelines
  • Feature engineering and feature store integration
  • Automated data validation and drift checks
  • Azure ML & MLOps: Hands-on experience deploying, monitoring, and managing models using Azure ML, including model versioning, batch inference jobs, online endpoints, environment management, and automated training pipelines.
  • Databricks & Distributed Processing: Proficiency in SQL, PySpark, and distributed compute patterns used for preparing, transforming, and analyzing large image and metadata datasets.
  • Agentic AI & Orchestration Experience: Familiarity with LangChain, LangGraph, or similar frameworks for building tool-using AI agents and orchestrating multi-step, model-mediated workflows.
  • Model Observability & Drift Detection: Experience implementing telemetry, monitoring pipelines, and drift detection using Azure ML Monitoring, Application Insights, or custom statistical techniques.
  • Software & Data Foundations: Strong Python engineering skills, solid understanding of APIs and microservices, familiarity with structured/unstructured data modeling, and experience producing reproducible ML workflows.

General Requirements

  • Education: Degree (Master’s or Ph.D. preferred) in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Experience: 7+ years in machine learning or applied data science roles, with at least 3 years in computer vision and 3+ years in data engineering for ML pipelines.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication, strong architectural thinking, ability to influence engineering and product teams, and comfort working in a fast-paced, iterative delivery environment.
  • English: C1 or C2.
