Role overview
We are seeking a highly experienced
Data Scientist
to support the Manufacturing (MFG) Engineering organization through advanced data analytics, visualization, and automation. While previously classified under a Manufacturing Engineer title, this role is
data-centric
and focused on
Power BI dashboard development, Power Applications, and data mining
within a manufacturing environment.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Manufacturing team to design, develop, and deploy data-driven solutions that improve visibility, automation, and decision-making. This role requires deep, hands-on expertise in
Power BI (not just familiarity), Power Apps development, data integration, and performance metric creation
, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights that optimize manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, deploy, and maintain advanced Power BI dashboards that provide actionable manufacturing insights.
- Perform data mining and establish robust data relationships within Power BI to support automation and data integration efforts.
- Design, develop, and deploy Power Applications to streamline and automate manufacturing and operational workflows.
- Create and maintain performance metrics and KPIs supporting manufacturing efficiency, quality, and productivity.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering and cross-functional teams to identify analytics needs and deliver effective data solutions.
- Support automation and integration initiatives through structured data modeling and Power BI relationships.
- Apply statistical process control (SPC) methods to monitor, analyze, and improve manufacturing processes.
- Develop and maintain detailed documentation for data analytics processes, tools, dashboards, and best practices.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and analysts in data analytics techniques, Power BI, and Power Applications.
- Communicate data findings, insights, and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Lead complex analytics initiatives independently with minimal supervision.
Basic qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science , or a related field.
- Minimum of 9 years of experience in manufacturing, data analytics, or related engineering roles.
- Proven, hands-on experience creating Power BI dashboards (must demonstrate more than general familiarity).
- Demonstrated expertise in designing and deploying Power Applications .
- Strong experience in data mining and establishing relationships within Power BI for automation and integration purposes.
- Extensive experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodologies.
- Solid understanding of database management concepts.
- Experience working with Snowflake .
- Proficiency in MS Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and lead high-impact projects.
- Proven experience mentoring and guiding junior engineers or analysts.
- U.S. Citizenship required (no dual citizenship).
Preferred qualifications
- Advanced degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
- Experience with additional data visualization and analytics tools such as:
- Minitab
- JMP
- Induction Automation
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
