We are looking for a Data Scientist to join our AI & Analytics unit.
AI & Analytics is a recently established competence unit of around 50 professionals. The AI team within it provides a community for AI, DS and ML developers, supporting knowledge sharing, best practices, skill development and internal mobility across projects. In practice, the work itself takes place in functional teams in close collaboration with the business.
About the job
As a Data Scientist, you will develop machine learning models for a variety of use cases, from initial development through deployment and maintenance. Your first assignments will focus on pricing and demand forecasting for S Group’s online stores. You will also be part of a wider SOK data science community, where people actively work on topics such as personalization and product findability. In this role, you will be working with stakeholders in both Finnish and English.
SOK has invested in ML-Ops capabilities, offering a modern environment where you can focus on designing and developing use cases. Not everything has been solved yet, so your work may occasionally include infrastructure or CI/CD configurations, with support from colleagues.
We aim to keep management lightweight, leaving room for you to shape the content of your work. This autonomy also means that succeeding and enjoying the role requires an active and initiative-taking approach.
Whatare wehoping from you?
You are a great fit for this role if you have experience building machine learning solutions that drive business value, along with strong technical and communication skills. Whether you are early in your career or already a more seasoned professional, your responsibilities in this role will be shaped by your level of experience.
You’ll thrive in this role if you have:
- Over two years of experience building ML models for business use cases such as forecasting, personalization or segmentation
- Strong background in statistical modeling and mathematics. Experience with neural networks is a plus.
- Strong software development skills. Our team codes mostly in Python.
- Solid experience working with databases and handling data from various systems, using e.g. SQL and APIs
- Experience with software development best practices and tools (e.g. unit testing, code reviews, Git, CI/CD, documentation)
- Experience working with cloud platforms. We use predominantly AWS.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders and present results clearly to audiences with different backgrounds
- Ability to work in both Finnish and English
