AI Engineer

Role Overview
Cadre AI is looking for a talented AI Engineer to join our dynamic team and help drive the development and optimization of our AI-powered platforms. This role requires strong technical expertise in machine learning, artificial intelligence, and large language models (LLMs), with a proven track record of building scalable AI solutions. The ideal candidate has experience working with OpenAI’s GPT series, Anthropic’s Claude, Google’s Gemini, and open-source models like Llama.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement machine learning models and AI algorithms for applications such as OCR, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), conversational agents, and content generation.
- Develop and optimize prompts for LLMs to improve model outputs and align with business objectives.
- Evaluate and fine-tune ML models and LLMs using rigorous testing and validation methodologies.
- Collect, preprocess, and manage large datasets to support AI model training and deployment.
- Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, and product teams to integrate AI models into products and services.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in generative AI, LLMs, and machine learning frameworks to incorporate best practices and new technologies.
- Deploy AI models into production environments and monitor performance, making necessary adjustments over time.
What You Need To Succeed
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience as an AI/ML Engineer or in a similar role.
- Hands-on experience with LLMs, including OpenAI GPT-4, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, and open-source models like Llama.
- Strong expertise in building RAG systems, agent frameworks, and LLM chains.
- Proficiency in Python and experience with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch.
- Solid understanding of machine learning algorithms, deep learning techniques, and natural language processing.
- Experience in evaluating ML models and LLMs using appropriate metrics and methodologies.
- SQL (Postgres) and data warehouse management experience (Snowflake preferred).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to tackle complex AI challenges.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience deploying AI models on cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
- Open-source contributions in AI projects or active participation in AI research communities.
- Experience with big data technologies like Hadoop and Spark.
- Domain knowledge in industries such as finance, healthcare, retail, or technology.
