Actively hiring Posted 4 months ago

At NORDEN, we enable global trade by leveraging data-driven insights to manage risk, provide efficient freight solutions and ensure governance.

To uphold high-quality digital solutions provided to our commercial teams, we are looking for an AI Engineer to join our Chartering Analytics team in Copenhagen.

You will work directly on building in-house data products and digital solutions to help the Chartering department make decisions.

Take part in unlocking AI’s potential for shipping

You will join a team of five full-time colleagues with backgrounds in mathematics, statistics and computer science. You will be encouraged to apply your technical skills in an environment that supports experimentation, learning and continuous improvement. Where we live by our values of trust, feedback and collaboration - delivering while keeping a sense of humour.

The team is international and offers plenty of opportunities for professional growth, creating real-world impact, building products that ship, and moving past demos and PoC’s. And then we are rooted in a social culture supported by an active social club.

Joining NORDEN also means stepping into a global organisation with more than 150 years of history, but also with a deep-rooted focus on new and innovative solutions, where digitalisation over the past years has played an important part, and will continue to do so.

The task that awaits you

You will be developing tools that give chartering managers an edge in a highly competitive market while at the same time helping build NORDEN’s foundation for GenAI by establishing best practices and educating colleagues. You will participate across the entire AI development lifecycle, translating needs into designs, constructing solutions and delivering production-grade systems.

Our tech stack consists of Python and its modern ecosystem (uv, FastAPI, Pydantic etc.), and we use Azure as our cloud platform for deployment, version control, CI/CD and more.

Your skills and qualifications

The ideal person applies a practical mindset to create commercially valuable solutions and speaks up to communicate their suggestions.

To be more specific, you already hold:

  • Software development experience with a focus on maintainability and software engineering best practices.
  • Experience deploying AI systems to production, including monitoring, evaluation, and performance optimisation.
  • Proficient in Python programming with familiarity with current Python tools and libraries.
  • Practical experience with LLMs, embeddings, vector search, RAG, and evaluation. You have a keen interest and experience in working with unstructured data (primarily plain text and documents).
  • Knowledge of modern software development tools such as version control, CI/CD and containerisation.
  • Experience building APIs with frameworks such as FastAPI or similar.
  • Knowledge of classical machine learning.

You must have legal eligibility to work in Denmark.

If you have worked in a shipping or trading environment already, this would be a benefit. In case you have contributed to any open-source projects either professionally or privately, we would also be interested in hearing about it. Furthermore, if you have experience with Next.js or any modern JavaScript framework, please share those details.

Application

Please upload a brief description of your motivation, your resume, and other relevant documents via our website as soon as possible and no later than 18 March 2026. We review applications and interview candidates on an ongoing basis.

We will do our best to get back to you at least within ten working days after the application deadline, 18 March 2026.

We value diversity in thought, educational background, and professional skills and therefore encourage all qualified candidates to apply.

We look forward to hearing from you.
