Required Qualifications:

  • Node.js/TypeScript: 5+ years, async patterns, generics, functional programming
  • AI/LLM: Production experience, prompt engineering, tool use/function calling
  • AWS: Bedrock, DynamoDB, Redis, PostgreSQL, IAM
  • Testing: Jest, integration testing, TDD mindset Strongly Preferred
  • Advanced AI: Multi-agent orchestration, safety guardrails, LLM-as-judge evaluation, streaming (SSE)
  • Distributed Systems: Task state management, event-driven architecture, rate limiting at scale
  • API Design: OpenAPI, JSON Schema validation, multi-version support, BFF patterns
  • DevOps: Docker, CI/CD, feature flags (LaunchDarkly), observability (OpenTelemetry, New Relic, CloudWatch)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Healthcare: HIPAA, medical coding (CPT/HCPCS), insurance concepts
  • Architecture: Plugin systems, A2A protocol, template engines
  • Prompt Engineering: System prompt caching, tool schema design, evaluation frameworks

Job Description

Our Healthcare Insurance Client is looking to hire 4 AI Engineers. This position is remote work from home and contract to hire. This Digital Team works on the flagship web and mobile application for a national healthcare insurance client. As an AI Engineer you will be working on the Omni Member Experience. This is a full stack team but will primarily focused on backend server work. The Digital Product Organization would like to add new features this year such as AI Virtual Health Assistants and Site Search, which is natural languages questioning with a generative response based on existing APIs that connect to personal health benefits and member information. They are working on building out additional APIs. They are building Agents for Appeals, ID Cars, Member History, Medication, Appointment Scheduling, etc.

Compensation
:

$80/hr to $100/hr.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
