RINA is currently recruiting for a AI Engineer-Satellite System to join its office in Roma within the Digital Technology and Cybersecurity Division.

Mission

The AI Expert will be responsible for researching, designing, and implementing AI-driven solutions that address business needs and drive competitive advantage. This role aims to lead the development and deployment of AI models, algorithms, and applications while staying at the forefront of AI advancements.

Key Accountabilities

AI Model Development and Implementation:

  • Research, design, and develop AI models, algorithms, and applications tailored to specific Satellite Systems and SAR Imagery
  • Implement and deploy AI solutions using appropriate tools and frameworks;

Data Analysis and Preparation:

  • Perform data analysis and preprocessing to prepare datasets for training and validation of AI models
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and availability for AI initiatives;

Performance Evaluation and Optimization:

  • Evaluate the performance of AI models using metrics and techniques such as accuracy, precision, recall, and AUC
  • Optimize AI models for scalability, efficiency, and robustness in real-world applications;

Collaboration and Cross-functional Integration:

  • Work closely with software engineers, data scientists, and domain experts to integrate AI capabilities into existing systems and workflows
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance on AI-related projects and initiatives;

Research and Innovation:

  • Stay updated with the latest advancements and research in AI, machine learning, and related fields
  • Explore and experiment with new AI technologies, frameworks, and methodologies;

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Document AI models, algorithms, methodologies, and results
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and technical documentation for stakeholders and management.

Education

Master’s Degree in Computer Engineering

Doctorate/PHD in Computer Science

Qualifications

  • Proven +3 years experience as an AI Engineer, AI Researcher, or similar role with a focus on developing AI solutions for Satellite System and SAR imagery;
  • Advanced knowledge of cognitive cycles applied to autonomous systems with experience on distributed learning, edge AI, and federated learning;
  • Development of multi-agent algorithms for satellite coordination and optimization for embedded hardware;
  • Understanding of operational constraints of space-borne systems, data fusion, real-time inference, and modeling for SAR imagery;
  • Strong proficiency in AI/ML techniques, algorithms, and frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, MLOps pipelines);
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++ for AI development;
  • Solid understanding of data structures, databases, and data processing techniques;
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills;
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
