Who We Are Looking For
We are seeking passionate and skilled Generative AI Developers who can understand industry trends and apply them within State Street’s business systems. You will work closely with business stakeholders to identify user needs, design and build Gen AI solutions using modern AI/ML techniques, and drive implementation across automation platforms. The ideal candidate brings a strong blend of AI model integration, software engineering, and problem-solving skills, and thrives in a collaborative hybrid work environment.

What You Will Be Responsible For
As Artificial Intelligence Engineer you will:

  • Understand user personas, tasks, and intent to design LLM-based assistants and automation use cases.
  • Collaborate with product and process teams to convert business requirements into AI-powered solutions using Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), document processing, and NLP.
  • Design and implement AI workflows using tools such as LangChain, LangGraph, or similar orchestration frameworks.
  • Develop and deploy AI Apps ( LLMs, prompt engineering, fine-tuning) with frameworks like OpenAI, Hugging Face Transformers, Vertex AI, or Azure OpenAI.
  • Build and validate intelligent agents capable of tool calling, document summarization, and structured output generation.
  • Prioritize and manage tasks to meet project deadlines and ensure delivery of high-impact business value.
  • Debug, test, and enhance AI pipelines for scalability, accuracy, and explainability.
  • Collaborate with DevOps, Infrastructure, and Data Engineering teams for secure and compliant deployment.

What We Value
These skills will help you succeed in this role

  • In-depth understanding of AI/ML concepts, especially generative models (LLMs, diffusion models, transformers).
  • Experience with Python (LangChain, FastAPI, PyTorch/TensorFlow, Pandas), and optionally Java.
  • Exposure to tools like Vector Databases (FAISS, Pinecone, Weaviate), OpenAI APIs, Hugging Face Hub, and LangSmith.
  • Strong grasp of software engineering concepts including OOPS, Design Patterns, Data Structures, and Algorithms.
  • Experience in working on multiple AI workflows or agents simultaneously.
  • Awareness of responsible AI practices, prompt safety, and hallucination mitigation strategies..
  • Ability to develop multiple reusable libraries and frameworks from scratch.
  • Experience in using API Development/Debugging Tools like Fiddler and Postman.
  • Ability to take responsibility and function under general supervision.

Salary Range:
$90,000 - $142,500 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
