We are seeking a Backend Engineer to work in the Storage Infrastructure space. This impactful role involves developing and optimizing the foundational systems and toolings that empower Spotify to deliver scalable and robust solutions for over a billion customers. You will contribute directly to some high-profile projects and be challenged with massive scales and engineering complexity. 

What You'll Do

    • Build tools to effectively manage the fleet of storage solutions at Spotify and drive high impact optimization projects.
    • Design and build systems to accomplish data storage resources migration
    • Work on a tech stack that includes backend services (Java and Python); utilities and scripts (in Python and Bash); data pipelines (in Python and SQL) and frontend that’s part of Backstage in TypeScript).
    • Own and be on-call for team’s tier 1 system

Who You Are

    • 3+ years experience in building highly scalable and reliable services using Java or Python
    • 3+ years experience working with cloud based environments
    • Familiar with cloud infrastructure technologies in the data storage space such as Google cloud storage, Bigtable, CloudSQL, Spanner, Caching technologies like memcached
    • Experience with writing and querying data pipelines or building frontend solutions
    • Passionate about the power of data when it comes to focusing on the right things
    • Equipped with a systematic problem-solving approach coupled with effective communication skills and drive.

Where You'll Be

    • This role is based in Toronto.
    • We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! There will be some in person meetings, but still allows for flexibility to work from home.
