Actively hiring Posted 8 months ago
The Platform department creates the technology ecosystem that enables Spotify's engineering teams to deliver quickly, while safely and easily scaling to a billion customers. Our team consists of eight organizational units, known as Studios, which reflect the needs and groupings of our internal customers.

Our team’s mission is to enable Spotify developers to efficiently and reliably deliver products by removing the effort to deploy. We empower internal customers to ship code faster, more frequently, and with greater confidence. Our goal is to make Spotify’s backend scalable, resilient, and predictable, so operational responsibility becomes a minimal burden for users. We are currently building the next generation of deployment tooling, known as Gantry.

What You'll Do

    • Design, develop, and deploy backend services that scale, are highly available, and are easy to extend.
    • Build and operate infrastructure, developer tooling, and deployment pipelines. (Today, we mostly build tools that deploy containers to Kubernetes and GKE; we primarily use Golang, Python, and Java.)
    • Collaborate closely with other specialists and become a valued member of an autonomous, cross-functional team.
    • Take operational responsibility for the services owned by your team, including participation in on-call and support rotations.
    • Apply AI-assisted development practices to improve efficiency, code quality, and velocity.

Who You Are

    • A collaborative team player in a dynamic, autonomous, cross-functional agile team who inspires others.
    • Experienced in designing, analyzing, optimizing code, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
    • Skilled in writing distributed, high-performance services in Golang or Python.
    • Comfortable with a systematic problem-solving approach, effective communication skills, and a strong drive to succeed.
    • Enthusiastic about working in a team where you constantly learn, experiment, and iterate quickly.
    • Proficient in using AI tools (e.g., code assistants, LLMs, or workflow optimizers) as part of your engineering toolkit, not just to speed up development, but also to improve reliability, testing, and problem solving.
    • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, GKE, Google Cloud Platform and ArgoCD is a plus.
    • Knowledge of deploying and operating services on Linux is a plus.

Where You'll Be

    • This role is based in Toronto.
    • We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! There will be some in person meetings, but still allows for flexibility to work from home. We ask that you come in 3 times per week.
