THE OPPORTUNITY

Background from Client

Our client used Equipment Price Modeling Tool aims to provide dealers with better knowledge and insight to more accurately price individual models on their sales lots and make better decisions about when to sell equipment in their fleets.

The application uses data available to our client about Used Equipment pricing for their dealers to deliver dashboards, and pricing algorithms to aid decision making and convey complex data in ingestible formats to their dealer network and internal teams; this has allowed to use Equipment Team to provide pricing estimates reliably and repeatedly for individual equipment types and dealers’ fleets Price data from a range of data sources (e.g. auction sites) over time (6+ years) is ingested and analyzed through a pipeline in AWS. The pipeline cleanses the incoming data, imputing missing fields where possible, and validating, and transforming inputs against master data for serial numbers, product type,s, and global markets; outliers are removed and prices are adjusted for inflation, thus creating a consolidated data set of pricing information for our client used equipment. This data is used to train algorithms to estimate equipment price based on usage and age; and a pricing - index overtime for different equipment models.
