Overview:

LMI is seeking a supply and logistics focused Data Scientist to support a federal program management office in Dayton, OH. This position can be part time to full time focused on innovating legacy analysis tools to modern interfaces and creating a customer centered data and analysis service. The role can be fully remote, although local hires to the Dayton, OH area should expect a hybrid arrangement.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop automated data analysis workflows to increase productivity for logistics and supply chain planning teams.
  • Implement data extraction, cleaning, and integration processes to provide up-to-date logistics data for optimization models and decisions support applications.
  • Lead small teams in creating ETL pipelines from various logistics data sources.
  • Utilize advanced statistical and machine learning techniques (e.g., forecasting, optimization, predictive analytics) to extract insights from logistics and supply chain data.
  • Develop and maintain data to enable supply chain network visibility, reporting and analysis.
  • Implement logistics systems data quality control processes through programming (e.g., VBA, Python, LabVIEW)
  • Identify and address data quality issues and discrepancies.
  • Processing, cleansing, and verifying the integrity of data to ensure accurate analysis

Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years of demonstrated experience applying data science/analytics in a logistics/supply environment.
  • Experience developing interactive data visualizations (e.g. Qlik, Power Platforms, Tableau, Dash, Shiny).
  • Strong background in statistical analysis, forecasting and operations research techniques.
  • Experience working with complex supply chain datasets like order management, inventory etc.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms, data warehousing, and database management.
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking skills, and a strong attention to detail
  • Outstanding communication skills – both verbal and written.
  • Ability to adapt to changing supply chain priorities and disruptions.
  • Superior communication skills, both oral and written
  • **This position requires an active security clearance at the SECRET level. You must be a US citizen.

Desired**

  • Master's degree in a quantitative field such as Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline.
  • 6+ years of demonstrated experience applying data science/analytics in a logistics/supply environment.
  • Familiarity with government logistics or defense agencies.
