MANTECH seeks a motivated, career- and customer-oriented Data Scientist. This remote (US-based) position, with up to 10% travel.

The Data Scientist will have AI/ML Developer skills to support mission-driven innovation in partnership with our Intelligent Engineering (IntelligEng) Practice. You will help develop advanced, secure, and scalable technology solutions to protect critical infrastructure and support national security missions.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Application Module Design & Delivery: Design, build, and deliver several core application modules for data intelligence systems.
  • Data Automation: Implement and automate Data Ingest & Extraction from structured and unstructured sources, and develop Smart Web Agents for scraping obsolescence notices from vendor/public sites.
  • Intelligent Matching & Imaging: Develop the Intelligent Part Matcher to suggest component replacements and use Digital Imaging for visual recognition to fill data gaps.
  • Risk Modeling & Prediction: Create the Risk Prediction Engine by applying modeling to identify components approaching end-of-life (EOL).
  • Scheduled Assessment: Configure and deploy the Scheduled Assessment Module for automated reviews and reporting.
  • AI/System Development: Develop AI-powered applications that aggregate data, automate analysis, and deliver actionable insights, including building chatbots, APIs, and ingestion systems.
  • Lifecycle Collaboration: Collaborate closely with data scientists, product managers, and systems engineers while actively participating in code reviews, sprint planning, and the DevSecOps lifecycle.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in software engineering or AI/ML-related development
  • Proficiency in AI/ML model development and training (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch)
  • Experience developing intelligent systems including: Chatbots or conversational AI, APIs for data access, processing, and visualization, applications to ingest and integrate structured and unstructured data (e.g., PDFs, websites, BOMs)
  • Knowledge of web agents or crawlers for periodic data scraping from vendor/public sources
  • Experience building or working with predictive modeling tools for risk or lifecycle prediction
  • Ability to work in both on-premise and cloud-based environments

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong programming ability in Python (preferred), Java, or C++
  • Familiarity with intelligent data matching or entity resolution (e.g., part replacement matching by fit/form/function)
  • Exposure to agile software development methodologies (e.g., Scrum)
  • Experience with DevSecOps tools and practices (e.g., CI/CD, Docker, Jenkins)
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Experience with digital imaging, computer vision, or OCR tools to automate data extraction
  • Ability to support and evolve a complex toolchain with scheduled analytics, user reports, and configurable assessments

Clearance Requirements:

  • US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain Secret clearance

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
  • Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations; must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
