The Engineering Graduate Program at Volvo Group Trucks Technology is a global 12-month program, offering a unique mix of on-the-job learning and dedicated training modules.

As a Graduate, you will work on real products and real business challenges, while developing both your technical expertise and your professional skills. Throughout the year, you will engage in activities designed to support your personal growth, strengthen your communication skills, and expand your global mindset.

In addition to your manager, who will guide you in your daily work, you will benefit from a strong network of fellow graduates, experienced colleagues, and senior leaders across the Volvo Group.

How you will make an impact

As an Engineering Graduate – Data Scientist / Artificial Intelligence, you will play a key role in accelerating powertrain engineering through data and AI:

  • Transform large volumes of data from R&D activities, test benches, and real-world vehicle usage into actionable insights
  • Design, train, and deploy machine learning and AI models for powertrain products
  • Explore advanced techniques such as deep learning, optimization, agent-based modeling, and computer vision
  • Integrate AI-driven solutions into engineers’ daily workflows
  • Contribute to the development of a strong data and AI culture by sharing expertise, mentoring, and collaborating across teams

You will also contribute to identifying new AI innovation opportunities and ensuring alignment between technical solutions, business needs, and customer value.

Your future team

You will join the Data & Simulation team within the Powertrain Technology department, based in Lyon.

The team is composed of engineers passionate about data, simulation, and innovation, working together to design and maintain digital solutions that enhance powertrain development. Curiosity, collaboration, and continuous learning are at the heart of the team culture, supported by strong mentorship and knowledge sharing.

You meet the following requirements

To qualify for the Engineering Graduate Program, you have:

  • A Master’s degree (BAC+5) in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field, completed no more than 18 months before the program start
  • No more than two years of full-time professional experience after graduation
  • Strong foundations in statistics, machine learning, and AI
  • Programming experience in Python, SQL, PySpark, Spark, Airflow or similar tools
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Grafana, Streamlit, etc.)
  • Exposure to platforms such as Databricks or equivalent
  • Initial experience in leading projects (academic, associative, or personal)
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral
  • Fluency in English (French is a strong asset in this environment)

Nice to have: GitHub projects, software development practices, agile methodologies, or innovation techniques.
