Gen AI Engineer – Core AI Team, Matas Group

About the role
As a Gen AI Engineer with us, you play a key technical role. You work closely with the business, but your primary focus is developing, operating, and optimizing AI-based systems and backend components that meet high technical standards and scale reliably.
You collaborate with product owners, developers, and data engineers to understand needs and translate them into working, production-grade solutions. The role requires you to be confident in technical areas, while also being able to provide clear technical direction and guidance across the organization.
Examples of projects you may work on
- Customer-facing chatbot for our customers on web and app – millions of potential users
- Internal knowledge assistant for stores and support – thousands of potential users
- Automated content production that streamlines large parts of the business
You will, among other things,
- Develop custom AI solutions or use AI frameworks to achieve business objectives
- Develop backend components and APIs in Python
Build data processing pipelines (PySpark/SQL/Pandas)
Create prototypes and demos to explore and demonstrate new solutions
Drive technical decisions and ensure the quality and scalability of our AI implementations
About you
We are looking for someone who has:
- At least two years of experience as a Data Scientist or another technically oriented role
- A master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or equivalent
- A strong interest in modern AI technology and generative AI, and the ambition to deepen your expertise further
Key technical competencies:
- AI/ML
- Backend development
- Data processing (Pandas / SQL / PySpark)
A GitHub profile with relevant hobby projects is considered a plus.
