We are looking for a

Lead AI Engineer / AI Solutions Lead

to build and lead this capability, combining hands-on technical work with product thinking and customer-facing solution design, while shaping how AI is developed and scaled across Kelluu.

Kelluu is building persistent, AI-powered aerial infrastructure for defence, security, and government use. We are establishing Kelluu AI Labs to turn advanced AI into real, deployable solutions across our products and customer deployments.

Role in practice

As the Lead AI Engineer, you will shape the technical direction of Kelluu AI Labs and help grow it into a high-performing team. You will hire and mentor AI engineers, set priorities, and balance rapid experimentation with the demands of production-grade delivery. You are comfortable making architectural decisions that span AI models, platforms, and edge systems.

Your core responsibility will be to drive the development of the Kelluu Geospatial Aware AI and the Situational Awareness Agent Platforms. This pivotal role involves leading initiatives related to topics like Spatial Agents, Generative 3D, Physical AI, and World Foundation Models to effectively leverage our data assets. The goal is to facilitate faster, better decision-making through AI and agents within our Aurora platform for our end users - to have a real world impact. You will be responsible for overseeing the platform's entire development lifecycle and advancing its capabilities across various domains, both internal and external to Kelluu.

A significant part of the role is also customer-facing. You will act as a technical AI partner for sales and delivery, joining customer meetings and workshops, helping translate real-world needs into scalable AI solutions. You understand how to move from pilots and proof-of-concepts into systems that can actually be deployed, maintained, and trusted.

On the technical side, you will design and implement AI systems end to end — from early prototypes to production deployments. This includes working with generative AI (LLMs, RAG, agents, automation), building custom AI solutions beyond off-the-shelf APIs, and designing AI pipelines that run reliably both in the cloud and on the edge, sometimes in constrained environments.

The role includes regular travel and close collaboration with customers, partners, and internal teams across locations.

What we are looking for

You have strong hands-on experience delivering AI and machine learning solutions into production and are comfortable owning systems end to end. You understand modern AI tooling and generative AI well, but you also care about reliability, security, scalability, and lifecycle management.

You are equally comfortable writing code and explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Acting as a bridge between business needs and engineering reality feels natural to you. You enjoy mentoring others, sharing knowledge, and setting technical direction in a fast-moving environment.

Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure and/or Google Cloud is important, as is an interest in edge AI and distributed systems. Willingness to travel and work directly with customers is part of the role.

We see as an advantage experience with spatial or geospatial AI, or with AI systems used in operational or situational-awareness contexts, is a strong plus.

How we work

We work pragmatically and move fast. We value modern, lightweight ways of working over heavy process, and we actively use AI development tools to accelerate everything from fast vibe-coded prototypes to early production systems. People are trusted to work independently while staying closely aligned with the team.

An entrepreneurial mindset, curiosity, and a drive to build things that matter are essential for working with us.

The salary range for the positions can be around 6000e/month depending on your background and experience level.

The work occurs either in Joensuu or Tampere, Finland.

Please note that the selected candidate may be required to undergo a security clearance.

Why Kelluu?

At Kelluu, you will get to work in one of the most extraordinary startups in Finland. We develop airships that will be flying all over the globe, and technologically, the possibilities are endless. You'll work with cutting-edge tools and technologies, contribute to a company that's making a real-world impact, and enjoy a collaborative and supportive work environment. We aim to operate efficiently in Finland and move rapidly towards international markets, making career development possible in our house.

Interested?

If this opportunity resonates with you and you recognize yourself in the description, we would gladly continue the conversation and tell you more about Kelluu as an employer and the role in detail.

The application period is open until 1st of March 2026, and applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis. The position will be filled as soon as a suitable candidate is found.
