Job Description
To shape the Standard Bank Group (SBG) artificial intelligence (AI) strategy and drive the creation of AI and machine learning (ML) solutions and projects; prioritising the delivery of new AI initiatives. To apply deep domain expertise in driving the AI strategy to enable SBG to be a business and thought leader in its desired markets. To shape, plan, lead Portfolio delivery providing expert Engineering skill, directing system capabilities, priorities, resources ensuring solutions are developed, maintained to standards, practices. To synthesize, mature Engineering Practices (Software; Quality; Change & Release; DEVOPS) across Portfolio delivery teams (5-12 teams).Lead, manage resources: software -, quality engineers, technical system team (50-80 resources), building capacity, capability, competencies in Engineering team.
- Advise, maintain and implement the Engineering standards, methods and procedures across Portfolio to ensure a consistent and best practice approach in the development of end-to-end solutions.
- Act as a subject matter expert from an AI and ML perspective and provide input into all decisions relating to AI and ML, and the
use thereof. - Analyse user needs and develop deep user insights so that direction may be provided in the development of complex solutions that are user-centric and aligned to business goals, to ensure that the solution is fit-for-purpose.
- Apply engineering and math skills to analyse and prepare structured/unstructured data for modelling, to support the Data Analysis and Engineering requirements of the role.
- Apply the most appropriate algorithms and/or build novel algorithms/techniques to fit the problem statement identified, which will support AI Modelling; take advantage of pre-built AI capabilities offered by Cloud vendors where appropriate to increase project velocity, take advantage of latest start-of-the-art commercialised AI solutions and reduce internal technical debt.
- Automate the processes needed for data collation purposes; design processes in such a way that whatever information requested, is available as and when required.
Qualifications
- Post Graduate Degree/ Masters: Information Technology (Min)
Additional Information
Experience Required: Software Engineering
8-10 years: Experience in the AI and ML area.
8-10 years: Proven ability to work effectively as both a team leader and as a member of a small team of technical staff working in an agile development environment. Track record in capability and competency building and coaching of staff is required. Minimum 3-5 years' experience as a senior manager running a portfolio of 10+ technical experts.
