Develops business requirements, analyzes systems design, and implements business models. Leads the development of assigned models and software applications based on advanced analytical methods. Establishes and maintains communications with personnel in business departments. These models and applications will enable informed, data-driven decisions and insights for efficiently running, planning and transforming the business. Implements advanced analytical techniques such as mathematical modeling, optimization, statistics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and simulation to drive industry leading concepts to solve complex business problems. Programs and designs and business operational models and software application. Constructs new approaches and methodologies to enhance the business models. Leads other scientists in managing, manipulating and visualizing data for new and enhanced business operational models. Leads other scientists in performing unit and system testing as well as monitoring and validating the test results. Leads other scientists in writing technical documentation and develops the business framework. Plans and leads team efforts within department in all phases of analytical projects, including business problem framing, analytics problem framing, data identification, methodology selection, model building, deployment and model life cycle management. Develops ad hoc reports and big data analysis according to management requests. Communicates with business analysts, field personnel and other departments for problem resolutions. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, Operational Research or related field required plus 2 years of experience in the job offered or 2 years demonstrated experience (academic work and/or professional experience) required in operations research and/or software development with exposure to object-oriented languages and mathematical/rule-based modeling required. The employer will alternatively accept a PhD degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, Operational Research or related field required plus 0 year of experience in the job offered or 0 years demonstrated experience (academic work and/or professional experience) required in operations research and/or software development with exposure to object-oriented languages and mathematical/rule-based modeling required in lieu of a Master’s degree plus 2 years of experience. The position requires experience with: Advanced application (can be through education/coursework) of two or more of the following: Java, SAS, SQL and/or Python to analyze or design business models and software applications; Advanced application (can be through education/coursework) of two or more commercial optimization, simulation, ML or supply chain modeling engines and languages such as: CPLEX, Gurobi, Xpress, ESRI, Simio, AnyLogic, Tensorflow, Scikit Learn or SupplyChainGuru to analyze business problems; experience applying analytical and problem-solving skills; working knowledge of Operations Research (OR) and analytics models; working knowledge of cloud computing in environments such as Azure, Google Cloud Platform or Amazon web services; working knowledge of data visualization tools such Tableau, Spotfire, Power BI or d3.js; experience explaining complex and/or confidential information via both verbal and written means; presentation skills necessary to facilitate training and/or deliver information sessions to groups and/or individuals; time management and organizational skills necessary to manage projects, appropriately prioritize workload, plan for resources to meet deadlines and goals and respond to day-to-day functional needs; experience anticipating and identifying problems and using judgment and fact-based analysis to develop solutions that solve the business problem in the required time.
