About Us:

Notion helps you build beautiful tools for your life’s work. In today's world of endless apps and tabs, Notion provides one place for teams to get everything done, seamlessly connecting docs, notes, projects, calendar, and email—with AI built in to find answers and automate work. Millions of users, from individuals to large organizations like Toyota, Figma, and OpenAI, love Notion for its flexibility and choose it because it helps them save time and money.

In-person collaboration is essential to Notion's culture. We require all team members to work from our offices on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, our designated Anchor Days. Certain teams or positions may require additional in-office workdays.

About the Role:

The People Team at Notion exists to help build a generational company that enables people to do their best and most meaningful work. This role operates at all altitudes - one minute, you’ll be building a people strategy with a member of our leadership team, and the next, you’ll be coaching an employee. With Notion's scale this year, you'll play a major role in how we shape, mold, and build the future of Notion for years to come.

This role would require you to work out of our San Francisco office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.

What You'll Achieve:

  • Build deep partnerships with Notion’s leadership team (especially across Engineering, Product, and Design), and serve as a conduit between stakeholders up to C-suite and the People Team.

  • Advise on, create, and execute people strategies that drive the business forward.

  • Consult with the leadership team on Talent Planning, Org Design, Retention Strategies, and Change Management.

  • Apply systems thinking to evolve how we operate — translating patterns and friction into improvements across people programs and operating rhythms.

  • Share proactive insights from people data, to uncover hot spots, and ensure Notion is being proactive to retain top talent.

  • Support and help shape the 360 performance review process: manager calibrations, facilitate training sessions, compensation planning, and host office hours.

  • Coach Managers to lead through change, effectively performance manage and increase employee engagement with ongoing feedback and effective communication.

  • Provide targeted performance management support, devise and implement development plans, and enhance managers' training for improved team performance.

Skills You'll Need to Bring:

  • 10+ years of experience, minimum of 3+ years of Engineering and/or Product experience and deep knowledge of various HR functions such as talent management, organizational design, employee relations, and performance management.

  • Strong learning velocity and able to ramp quickly on new organizations, leaders, and evolving operating models.

  • Demonstrated experience building relationships with senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Solutions-oriented with an analytical approach to problem-solving.

  • Ability to remain tactful and calm in all situations.

  • Highly adaptable and will thrive in a rapidly changing, fast-paced environment.

  • Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to thrive with async and global teams

  • Understanding of state and federal laws concerning labor relations.

  • You don’t need to be an AI expert, but you’re curious and willing to adopt AI tools to work smarter and deliver better results

Nice to Haves:

  • Working in a fast-growing technology company

  • Familiarity with Notion as a product and enthusiasm for how tools shape how people work.

We hire talented and passionate people from a variety of backgrounds because we want our global employee base to represent the wide diversity of our customers. If you’re excited about a role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every bullet point listed in the job description, we still encourage you to apply. If you’re a builder at heart, share our company values, and enthusiastic about making software toolmaking ubiquitous, we want to hear from you.
