Core Responsibilities:

  • Involvement with the activities and implementation of data analyses and management softwares for the SKAO
  • Active participation in the SKA Regional Centre Network (SRCNet)
  • Implementation of efficient avenues of computation, e.g., through DASK/xarrays, casacore, GPU-based imaging of visibilities, etc., and exploitation of novel data science techniques, e.g., Bayesian methods, machine learning, data provenance, etc.

Core Requirements:

  • A PhD in Data Science, Mathematics, Astrophysics or equivalent field of research.
  • Experience with data science related to chunking/striping of large data arrays, efficient array manipulations and FFT algorithms, MPI, etc. Proficiency in CPU-based programming, e.g., C, C++, FORTRAN, python, java. Experience with GPU programming is desirable.
  • Familiarity with workflow managers, e.g., CWL, AirFlow, REANA, Stimela, or experience with (semi)automated handling of large-datasets, networking and authentication protocols.

Kernaufgaben:

  • Beteiligung an den Projekten und der Implementierung von Datenanalyse- und Verwaltungssoftware für die SKAO
  • aktive Teilnahme am SKA Regional Centre Network (SRCNet)

Kernanforderungen:

  • Promotion in Datenwissenschaften, Mathematik, Astrophysik oder einem gleichwertigen Forschungsgebiet
  • Erfahrung in der Datenwissenschaft, insbesondere im Zusammenhang mit Chunking/Striping großer data arrays, effizienter Array-Verarbeitung und FFT-Algorithmen, MPI usw.
