The Quality Engineer, Receiving and Vehicle Quality, will interact with quality, manufacturing, engineering, and fleet operations to ensure that parts received at Zoox meet quality and documentation expectations and that products released to service meet design specifications, functionality, customer expectations, and have required documentation. A successful candidate must have the ability to meet tight deadlines, have strong interpersonal and communication skills, be detail-oriented, and be able to work independently.

In this role, you will:

    • Maintain quality and inventory records for receiving inspection
    • Coordinate rework activities with responsible part owners and supplier quality engineers
    • Design, champion, and execute strategic continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the receiving inspection, production quality audit, and vehicle release processes
    • Work cross-functionally with Supplier Quality, Manufacturing, and Vehicle Development to strategically resolve systemic product and process issues
    • Support the development and review of PFMEA and Control Plans to ensure compliance and robust risk mitigation strategies for all critical manufacturing processes
    • Communicate technical results clearly and accurately and drive issues to successful closure

Qualifications

    • BS in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive, aviation or contract manufacturing.
    • Proven expertise in advanced problem-solving methodologies (e.g., Shainin Red X, Six Sigma Black/Green Belt) and demonstrated success driving systemic quality improvements across the value stream.
    • Strong planning, organizational, analytical, negotiation, interpersonal, decision-making, oral, and written communication skills

Bonus Qualifications

    • Automotive OEM or Tier 1 supplier experience
    • Expertise in using quality management and ERP systems (SAP, MES, JIRA, etc.) for data extraction, analysis, and reporting.
    • ASQ Certification (e.g., Certified Quality Engineer - CQE or Six Sigma Black Belt)
$155,000 - $186,000 a year
Base Salary Range

There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. The listed range applies only to the base salary. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
