**Research Scientist – Machine Learning & Precision Neuroscience

Location:**
Mountain View, CA or Remote

Department:
Research & Development

Employment Type:
Full-Time

What You’ll Do

As a Research Scientist at Neumarker, you will work on machine-learning–driven research to discover and validate clinically meaningful biomarkers across epilepsy, ASD, and MDD. You will design and evaluate advanced models for time-series and multimodal neurobiological data, translating complex signals into actionable clinical insights. Working closely with clinicians, neuroscientists, and engineers, you will help advance precision neuroscience from research to real-world patient impact.

Key Responsibilities

Machine Learning for Clinical Precision Medicine

·      Develop predictive ML models for treatment response, patient stratification, and disease characterization in epilepsy, ASD, MDD, and related CNS conditions.

·      Build advanced ML architectures (transformers for time series, graph models, deep learning, probabilistic models, self-supervised learning) tailored to EEG and multimodal clinical datasets.

·      Design and implement multimodal fusion approaches integrating EEG, imaging, genomics, and behavioral/clinical measures.

·      Establish rigorous validation pipelines (nested CV, site-level generalization, calibration, ablation testing) aligned with clinical translational needs and regulatory expectations

Biomarker Discovery & Neurobiological Interpretation

·      Extract and model neurophysiological features, connectivity, spectral signatures, network dynamics, and developmental markers, relevant to epilepsy, ASD, and MDD.

·      Apply interpretability tools (SHAP, saliency, attention analysis, feature attribution) to identify biomarkers that are both biologically meaningful and clinically actionable.

·      Support translation of ML-derived biomarkers into candidate digital or physiological endpoints for clinical trials and treatment-selection tools.

Research Collaboration & Scientific Leadership

·      Collaborate with clinicians, neuroscientists, ML engineers, and external research partners across epilepsy, ASD, and MDD programs.

What You Have

·      Ph.D. or M.S. in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Computational Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.

·      Strong experience developing ML models for high-dimensional biological or clinical datasets (time series strongly preferred).

·      Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX, and scikit-learn.

·      Experience with time-series analysis or signal processing; EEG is a strong plus.

·      Strong grounding in statistical rigor, experimental design, and robust validation methodology.

·      Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate ML findings in clinical and scientific contexts.

What You Might Have, but isn’t required

·      Experience modeling patient heterogeneity, treatment response, or disease progression in epilepsy, ASD, or MDD.

·      Expertise in multimodal ML, representation learning, self-supervised learning, or generative modeling.

·      Experience with biomarker research, digital phenotyping, or translational clinical AI.

·      Peer-reviewed publications in ML, neuroscience, biomedical engineering, or related areas.

·      Experience working with clinical partners or biopharma collaborators.

About Us

Neumarker is a neuroscience and AI company building advanced precision medicine tools for central nervous system (CNS) disorders, including epilepsy, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and major depressive disorder (MDD). We combine clinically validated datasets with machine learning, computational neuroscience, and multimodal neurobiological modeling (EEG, MRI, genomics, behavioral data) to discover biomarkers that improve diagnosis, stratification, and treatment selection.

Our mission is to bring clinically actionable precision neurology, precision developmental neuroscience, and precision psychiatry to real-world patient care.

We kindly request no outreach from recruitment firms regarding this position.

Quick answers about how DevFound's AI matching, resumes, and referrals work.

DevFound's AI Copilot ingests your profile, goals, and live job data to deliver curated matches in seconds. Every match includes a resume variant, suggested referrals, and interview prep so you can act immediately. The more feedback you provide, the sharper the Copilot becomes.

AI-led job searches shrink the hours spent sifting through boards and formatting resumes. DevFound pairs automation with your personal outreach, so you reserve energy for interviews and negotiation. Traditional networking still matters, but AI gives you a lift before you even send a message.

Modern AI roles expect comfort with production-grade code, data fluency, and practical ML tooling. The strongest candidates pair deep technical chops with storytelling—translating model impact to product, GTM, and exec partners. Continuous learning keeps you ahead as stacks evolve.

DevFound rewards active seekers. Keep your profile fresh, respond to match quality prompts, and enable alerts so you never miss a role. The AI prioritizes companies and teams that align with your feedback, accelerating both introductions and interview invites.

High-density tech hubs continue to host the deepest AI talent pools, yet distributed teams are catching up fast. Use DevFound filters to hone in on onsite, hybrid, or fully remote roles and watch openings expand across time zones.

DevFound aggregates thousands of remote AI openings and flags the nuances—core hours, async culture, and visa needs—up front. The Copilot also recommends how to position your distributed work experience so hiring managers know you can thrive on a remote team.
