ECS is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to work remotely.

ECS is seeking a Sr. Data Scientist to join our team supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO). Our team supports a rapidly growing Data Analytics and Business Intelligence platform that is focused on providing solutions that empower our Federal customers with the tools and capabilities needed to turn data into actionable insights.

In this role, you will be responsible for solving complex business problems through data exploration and analysis.

Responsibilities include:

  • Partner with stakeholders to understand problems from a business perspective and translate requirements into AI/ML frameworks
  • Work collaboratively across the ML lifecycle from data preparation through model deployment
  • Develop, optimize, and support innovative, scalable, and high performing technical solutions using emerging AI technologies
  • Leverage automation and machine learning for data management processes, scenario prediction, and deliver data-driven recommendations that support mission knowledge and decision-making.
  • Continuously research and evaluate emerging trends in AI/ML and identify opportunities where AI/ML can drive value and innovation at DHS
  • Support Rapid Development efforts to help build MVP and establish paths for promoting code from development to production environment.
  • Conduct research on various data sources using quantitative and qualitative analytics and clean/collect/transform data for modeling
  • Coordinate efforts with ECS Centers of Excellence (COE) and other corporate Cyber, Data, and AI SMEs to support use case development, roadmap and maturity development, and data integration
  • Be an active and collaborative member of an Agile/Scrum team and follow all Agile/Scrum best practices
  • Help cultivate an environment that promotes customer service excellence, innovation, collaboration, and teamwork
  • Collaborate with others as part of a cross-functional team that includes user experience researchers and designers, product managers, engineers, and other functional specialists

 

Salary Range: $170,000 - $180,000

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of IT experience including experience in design, analysis, and implementation of large-scale, complex data architectures.
  • Knowledgeable in a breadth of statistical computer languages (Python highly preferred) to manipulate data and draw insights from large datasets.
  • Quantitative analysis including experience with SQL or statistical/mathematical software (e.g., R, SAS, MATLAB).
  • Ability to build or design data pipelines.
  • Knowledge of a variety of predictive analytics and machine learning techniques (clustering, linear modeling, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks.
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests, and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment leveraging advanced design and engineering best practices.
  • Maker mindset, coachable, and have an urge to learn/master new technologies and fields.
  • Experience mentoring data engineers, establishing best practices, and providing code review and other feedback.
  • Strong ability to communicate with multiple stakeholders to build relationships and provide guidance.
  • Ability to process structured, unstructured, and semi-structured data and apply data cleaning, data imputation and feature engineering methods prior to developing models.
  • Ability to work with the executive team to provide architecture, design, and execution of refactoring of current processes.
