This role requires deep expertise in AI/ML techniques, data engineering, and analytics to translate complex operational challenges into scalable, mission-focused analytic solutions.

Job Description

  • The Senior Data Scientist is responsible for designing, developing, and deploying advanced AI/ML models to support real-time and near-real-time analytics. This includes applying deep learning, supervised and unsupervised learning techniques, data wrangling, and feature engineering to structured, unstructured, and geospatial datasets.
  • The role involves optimizing analytic workflows for performance and scalability using distributed data processing frameworks such as Databricks and Apache Spark. Personnel will ensure model transparency and trustworthiness by implementing data provenance tracking, model explainability, and bias mitigation techniques in accordance with responsible AI principles.
  • Additional responsibilities include integrating AI/ML models into production and mission-critical environments, collaborating with engineers and stakeholders to operationalize analytics, and continuously improving model performance and reliability. Strong analytical reasoning and communication skills are essential to translate operational needs into effective analytic solutions.

Required Qualifications and Experience

The contractor shall provide personnel who meet one of the following requirements:

  • Masters degree in Data Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or a related discipline; or
  • A minimum of nine (9) years of equivalent professional experience in AI/ML model development and deployment.

Candidates must have demonstrated experience in the following areas:

  • Developing, validating, and deploying AI/ML models using Python and ML frameworks.
  • Applying deep learning, supervised, and unsupervised learning techniques.
  • Integrating models into production and real-time analytics environments.
  • Working with distributed data processing platforms such as Databricks or Apache Spark.
  • Integrating structured, unstructured, and geospatial data into analytic solutions.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Proficiency in Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Scikit-learn.
  • Strong understanding of data wrangling, feature engineering, and analytic workflows.
  • Experience with data provenance tracking, model explainability, and bias mitigation.
  • Ability to translate operational challenges into analytic and AI-driven solutions.
  • Strong collaboration, documentation, and communication skills.

Education

  • Masters degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Google Professional Machine Learning Engineer (Preferred, Not Required).
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Scientist Associate (Preferred, Not Required).
  • TensorFlow Developer Certification (Preferred, Not Required).

Clearance Requirement

  • An active TS/SCI security clearance is required.
