PlaiDay is searching for the best and brightest Software Engineers to work on a new central technology platform that will support a number of our newest social products, powered by Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. We’re looking for a smart, experienced DevOps Engineer who thrives in an agile environment.

Our right fit is someone who enjoys solving problems, has experience setting up and managing Kubernetes on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), cares about scalability, interacts effectively in a team environment, and takes ownership and pride in the work that they do.

Responsibilities:

    • Lead the deployment, automation, management, and maintenance of GCP-based infrastructure and systems.
    • Implement and manage continuous delivery systems and methodologies on GCP.
    • Ensure the availability, performance, security, and scalability of applications in support of business objectives.
    • Work closely with product leadership, product designers and backend engineers to build and release on schedule.
    • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automating workflows to enhance operational efficiencies.
    • Monitor system events to ensure health, maximum system availability, and service quality.
    • Perform system & application patching and upgrade deployment.
    • Maintain the configuration, discovery, and management documentation.
    • Collaborate with developers, QA, and other IT team members to manage system releases and enhance deployment processes.
    • Work in a rapid-paced environment with the flexibility to adapt to changing requirements.
    • Provide off-hours support on a rotational basis.

Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 5 years experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
    • Proficiency with container orchestration services such as Kubernetes.
    • Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (IAC) using tools like Terraform or Cloud Deployment Manager.
    • Expertise in CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar.
    • Strong knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or similar.
    • Deep understanding of cloud architecture and application deployment on the cloud.
    • Knowledge of network protocols, IP networking, DNS, VPNs, and load balancing.
    • Familiarity with monitoring and log aggregation tools like Stackdriver, Prometheus, or Grafana.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and a detail-oriented mindset.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    • Preferred Skills:
    • GCP Certifications such as Professional Cloud Architect or Professional DevOps Engineer.
    • Experience in working with microservices architecture.
    • Proven experience in managing large scale cloud environments.
