Research Scientist, Computer Vision (PhD)

Responsibilities

• check_circle Design and conduct original research in computer vision, including 3D reconstruction, scene understanding, and generative image or video modeling
• check_circle Develop and train deep learning models using large-scale image and video datasets, iterating on architectures to improve accuracy, efficiency, and generalization
• check_circle Implement and evaluate novel computer vision algorithms, benchmarking against state-of-the-art methods on standard and internally curated datasets
• check_circle Contribute to the design and curation of training datasets and annotation pipelines for vision tasks
• check_circle Translate research findings into production-ready prototypes in collaboration with engineering teams
• check_circle Write and publish research results at leading computer vision and machine learning venues
• check_circle Participate in code reviews and contribute to shared research codebases, maintaining code quality and reproducibility
• check_circle Collaborate with cross-functional partners in product, engineering, and data science to align research directions with applied goals
• check_circle Instrument experiments with appropriate logging and evaluation metrics to support data-driven decision making
• check_circle Identify opportunities to improve existing vision systems and propose incremental or novel research directions to the team

Basic qualifications

• Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta
• Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD in computer vision, machine learning, computer science, or a related field
• 2+ years of research experience in computer vision, including work on 3D reconstruction, SLAM, or related areas
• Experience in developing and training deep learning models using frameworks such as PyTorch
• Experience implementing and evaluating computer vision algorithms and conducting rigorous experimental comparisons
• Experience communicating research findings through publications, technical reports, or presentations to peers
• Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with large-scale vision-language models, self-supervised learning, or generative image and video modeling
• Experience with 3D vision tasks including depth estimation, novel view synthesis, neural radiance fields, or multi-view reconstruction
• Demonstrated software engineering experience through internships, open-source contributions, or research engineering roles
• Proven track record of publications at leading computer vision or machine learning venues such as CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, NeurIPS, ICML, or SIGGRAPH
